Build a bridge over the Yahoo! Homepage and paint it. The Custom Arch connects two sides of the Yahoo! Homepage by creating a bridge at the top of the page. Use Flash, colours and images on this hugely customisable canvas to draw user’s eyeballs to your ad.

30 seconds max animation, Background on/off buttons in the Flash is optional
If the execution uses the Arch Pushdown, the North should be 992×90 FLA, SWF (40KB), 30 seconds maximum animation (no backup required)
Background:
1280px wide optimised for both 1280 and 1024 screen resolution widths with 144px of graphical content on each side
Single colour background: hexadecimal web colour code
Height can stretch down to bottom of browser window but must be 100KB JPG or GIF
Due to the pervasive nature of a background change, please make sure your background adheres to the requirements below. The Arch is subject to additional Editorial approval and Yahoo! reserve the right to reject any background that it deems inappropriate.
The 100px area at the top and centered is where The Arch joins both sides of the background
Product messaging/slogans, branding, logos and necessary legal text are permitted in the background but must be sensitive to the Yahoo! logo and Yahoo! content. This will be subject to Editorial approval
No call-to-actions are permitted
One single static image is used for the background. This image should be 1280px wide to accommodate nearly every screen size in common use. This does not mean that all browsers will show all of the background content, as some users have smaller screens and browsers – the content you want to display to the highest amount of users should be contained within the area visible at 1024×768
You should fade the edges of the gutters to a solid colour. Please provide us with the exact hex colour so that it can be applied to the rest of the page background. This will improve the look of the creative to users with wider screens by avoiding hard edges
The centre of the background image will appear behind the page content and therefore it will not be shown. This means that you can leave it blank, which will considerably help keep the weight of the creative low
The background will be aligned by the browser to the centre of the page therefore it is subject to pixel rounding issues. The consequence of this is that a thin line might appear between the page content and the gutter, because a small portion of the blank area at the centre of the background is shown. In order to avoid this we suggest building the gutter with an additional 3 to 5 pixels in width, with the additional pixels moved towards the centre – i.e. the space between the gutters will be reduced by 3 to 5 pixels each side
The gutters may scroll with the page if required (not in IE6) and may click through to the destination URL if requested
Background colour must be thematically consistent with takeover content
Colours that may irritate, annoy or cause discomfort to the user are not accepted, eg, bright red (#FF0000)
Colours shall be pertinent to the theme or tone of the advertiser brand, product or/and message
Avoid bright colours that do not complement each other
The background image must not look cluttered, messy, distracting or in bad taste
You may select one of the 3 possible executions below to include with your Custom Arch:
1. Arch Pushdown
The Arch Pushdown expands the North pushing the page further down to reveal a large canvas which can be packed with rich content.
992×90 FLA and SWF (40KB), 30 seconds maximum animation (no backup required)
992×500 FLA and SWF (300KB and must have a close button)
Please also include fonts that we may need for publishing the FLAs
Video and audio are permitted. We accept many formats of video delivery, including HD. As a guide, FLVs should be less than 3.5MB. Please contact your Yahoo! Sales representative should you require more information.
If this is to run on AOL or laposte.net it is important to pay attention to the different size backgrounds on these pages. 992px is wider than both AOL & laposte.net pages so backgrounds for these pages may need to be adjusted.
Please note that we do not recommend replacing what can be done in Flash animation with video because this tends to be inefficient and result in very large video files. This is especially problematic if the video becomes the Screening Room itself, rather than being a part of it. Please keep in mind that the initial load of the Screening Room should be less than 300KB to ensure as many users as possible see the ad. Please see our video download speed guide for more information.
The Sliding Room can be run in conjunction with the Custom Arch.
Video and Audio
A 30 second video can play in the MPU and must not loop. Video play can be uninitiated or user-initiated; however sound must be user-click-initiated and can start with the video if the video is already user-click-initiated. There must also be controls to pause video play and mute the sound.
Please provide video asset as FLV (2.2MB or below) or uncompressed AVI or MOV at 30 seconds max. Audio (sound only) is also available in the MPU and must be user-click-initiated. The audio asset should be supplied as a WAV or MP3 at 100KB. There must also be controls to mute the audio.
