A Pushdown Event “pushes down” page content beneath it to gain more real estate for your ad. It can achieve the disruptive effect of a Floating event yet is much less likely to be annoying to the user.

Close Button

The Pushdown must contain a close button that contains the word “Close”. The close button must be clear and visible for the duration of the expanded state of the Pushdown. We may also move the close button or use our default close buttons to ensure the best user experience possible.

The Event Experience

Upon loading the Yahoo! UK Front Page the first time on the day of a Pushdown event, the Event ad unit is in its expanded state. After 15 seconds, the Pushdown will gradually retract into the standard event ad unit dimensions. On subsequent visits the user is shown the event in retracted state only. However, a “Replay” text link is always available beheath the event ad unit to expand again. The ad itself may also contain a “Replay” button for the same purpose.

Video and Audio

A 30 second video can also play in the base unit. Video play can be uninitiated or user-initiated; however sound must be user-click-initiated and can start with the video if the video is already user-click-initiated. There must also be controls to pause video play and mute the sound.

Please deliver video asset as FLV (2.2MB or below) or uncompressed AVI or MOV at 30 seconds maximum

Audio (sound only) is also available in this unit. Audio play must be user-click-initiated and be supplied as a WAV or MP3 at 100KB or below. There must also be controls to mute the audio.

Polite Downloading

Extra uninitiated Flash assets can also be loaded on page load. The extra assets must be 100KB or less and the total animation time still need to be within 15 seconds.

Where can this run?

The ad format is approved to run on: Yahoo! Front Page.
