- Roll-over-open with 3-second-delay and roll-out-close
- During the 3-second-delay, there must be a countdown to keep the user informed. This can be left to Yahoo! to implement
- After the video is fully expanded, a Close button must be clearly visible in the top right corner of the expanded layer to enable the user click to close the expansion. This can be left to Yahoo! to implement

One enormous video plays in two inline units (300×250 and 400×60) in perfect synchronicity and reveals itself fully on roll-over of the mouse.

Examples
Event Experience
Upon loading the Yahoo! UK Front Page, a large video plays across two inline banners (300×250 and 400×60). This creates both impact and curiosity as the user perceives that the video is ‘hiding’ behind the two units and waiting to reveal itself.
When the user rolls over either banner a visual countdown of three seconds begins, at the end of which both banners expand into each other and out to reveal the video in full whilst the video itself continues playing. Now there are three possible scenarios:
Roll-out
If the first interaction from the user is to roll their mouse out of the expanded video, the video contracts back into the two inline banners and continues playing unless it has reached its end.
If they leave the page, they are still able to roll over the inline banners to expand the video on their return to Yahoo!.
Click on video
If the user clicks on the video, sound is turned on and the video will remain expanded even on roll-out.
A second click on the video can also take the user to the landing page or activate other interactive features if desired.
Click on Close button
If the user clicks on the Close button, the expanded video disappears immediately. The two inline banners are shown with maximum further 30 seconds of Flash animation. They should act as a reminder of the campaign message. These will also be shown to the user from this point onward if they leave and come back to Yahoo! instead of the roll-over video.
Supported Browsers
PC: Internet Explorer 6+, FireFox 3+, Chrome
Mac: FireFox 3, Chrome, Safari
Other browsers are served the inline Flash reminder only without roll-over video.
Deliverables
- 770×520 Expandable layer:
- Video: 770px wide, 440-520px high, up to 30 seconds. Please supply as a 3MB max FLV/F4V or an uncompressed AVI or MOV, which we will compress as an FLV/F4V
- Optional video container: 770×520, 100KB SWF, Flash 10 AS3 or below, 25fps or below. Yahoo! usually implements the 3-second-countdown, the transition effects of the roll-over expansion and roll-out contraction and the Close button. So this container is usually optional unless to provide the graphical components of those functions to ensure the entire ad looks the way you want.
- 300×250 inline FLA, SWF (40KB), Flash 10 AS3 or below, 25fps or below, 40KB JPG or GIF, 30 seconds max animation
- 400×60inline FLA, SWF (30KB), Flash 10 AS3 or below, 25fps or below, 30KB JPG or GIF, 30 seconds max animation
- Please also include fonts that we may need for publishing the FLAs
Notes
- The most important component of this format is obviously the video content. It should maximise the teasing nature of the inline banners to entice the user to roll over
- Important information like call-to-action should always fall within the 300×250 area, so it is available even when the video is contracted
- Beware that the alignment between the 300×250 and 400×60 banners is not fixed. The portion of video shown in the 400×60 banner may vary from user to user depending on individual page settings and more specifically the height of the module above it
