Use of external feeds
If external feeds are to be used in an advertisement then these guidelines must be adhered to:
- All feeds must be moderated by the advertiser. The feed must not allow ‘friends’ or the public to update it (no UGC content).
- Advertisers must not try to deceive users into clicking links. Advertisers must be clear in the language they use.
- If advertisers link to content, they must only link to content which informs the user of the advertiser’s products. Advertisers must not link to sites with other ads for the same product.
- Advertisers must not use repetitive statements in external feeds, e.g. Click here, click here, click here.
- Advertisers must not include links to Yahoo! competitors.
- External feeds should be used to inform users of the advertiser’s latest news. Advertisers should avoid spamming the feed with the same content.
- Images used in a feed should relate to the advertiser brand.
- Advertisers must confirm that they have permission to use external feed content and that relevant terms and conditions have been complied with.
