Click-to-Video enables advertisers to drive video plays from a mobile banner ad. Yahoo serves a mobile banner ad and when the user clicks on the ad, video will play in the phone’s native video player, as seen below. The video file is hosted and streamed by Yahoo!.

Mobile Banner Specifications

Four advertising images complete the one Mobile advertising asset. Mobile users have differing phones and hence differing screen sizes complete the Mobile ad set, the image sizes below must be submitted.

  • Alt text must be specified in the event an ad image fails to serve (8 characters).
  • Border is required on all sides if colour tone of the creative does not contrast well with page background.

Video Specifications

Preferred Minimum Source File Settings

Our preferred source format is QuickTime; however, we can also accept Windows Media, MPEG-2, DV, AVI (certain proprietary codecs may not work) and MP4.  We also prefer full frame NTSC or Pal video; but as a minimum we ask for 480×360 for 4×3 video or 480×270 for 16×9 video.  Preferably we would like to have sources with frame sizes of 640×480 for 4×3 video and 640×360 for 16×9 video or higher.  The reason we ask for these frame sizes is that players throughout the site display up to those sizes and we would like to keep the quality of the videos uniform as much as possible.  The following settings are a suggestion meant as a guideline for a good compromise of quality versus file size (feel free to increase bandwidth to increase quality):
